Even though United States citizens enjoy a level of personal liberty and civil justice that most other people in the world can only imagine or dream of, there is still progress that needs to be made in its systems.
It is not that there is something fundamentally wrong with the institutions of justice that serve a purpose to protect freedoms of the people.
It is just that by design the same people who draft and decide on law and order do not actually care out the enforcement of said laws. It is called checks and balances, and debatably it is one of the best things to happen to a government or her people. Read more: Phoenix New Time

However, at times the “American dream” for some of her citizens takes a wicked and most distressing turn when people’s civil liberties go trampled on. When oversights of any kind go unchecked and the service provided by the government proceeds just a bit off balance, it is prime time for Nongovernment Organizations (NGOs) to take action.
One such organization is the American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU), which has affiliates across the US. In particular, there is one branch on this tree that is worth a particular notice because of its relationship to another organization that exists completely outside the civil liberty network.
For reasons all its own, individuals in the state of Arizona find themselves in very hot territory both metaphorically and in reality. And, in dealing with that reality the good people of the ACLU Arizona have a strategic plan that spans from 2017 through 2020.
There are about a half dozen parts to this strategy, and when and when each one is fulfilled in tandem with the others lives are changed change for the better. It all starts with the vision, mission and core values and then ends with the addressing of strategic issues.
The vision reads simply enough in what it states plainly is that Arizona needs to respect and guarantee the protection of civil liberties. The mission is just a little more deep by stating that the ACLU Arizona is a lighthouse for civil liberties statewide and federally.
The core values all seem to align with one another, as they are individual liberty, justice and equality. And, all of this happens under a non-partisan roof. These ideas are good and are the back bone the strategic issues of immigrant rights, LGBT equality, sentencing reform and educational equality. All of these issues are human or migration rights focused in their nature.
And, the institutional association that makes this organization so fascinating is the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. The storyline as to what makes the Frontera Foundation tick tock and kick off is one to hear for sure. It is actually not the only venture Michael and Jim are known for.
They are also co-founders of Village Voice Media and Phoenix New Times. However the origins of their latest organization and construct owes its creation to the settlement resulting from their unlawful arrest. The real person to thank for all of that is Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
